Our Vision is to create a safe and friendly educational environment where children, families, and early childhood professionals feel confident to learn and grow.
Leshia Reed-Anderson, the founder and visionary of Camp Success Academy, is currently an interrelated resource teacher at Baggett Elementary School in the Broad Prize-Winning Gwinnett County Public Schools District. Her desire to help children maximize their potential despite ethnicity, culture or socioeconomic status is the driving force behind the program. One of her favorite quotes by the late Margret Mead states, “Children must be taught how to think, not what to think.” Therefore, one of Mrs. Anderson’s primary objectives is to foster critical thinking skills in all students. She believes that if every student has exposure to experiences that make them think critically, they will expand their perspective of the world around them and increase their ability to make sound decisions regarding their learning and life.
Camp Success Academy held its first summer program in 2015 at the Community Achievement Center in Dekalb County. With such an overwhelming and positive response, our doors expanded across county lines during the summer of 2016, and we found a new home at Baggett Elementary School in Gwinnett County. With such a need for quality after-school programming, Camp Success held its first after-school program at Baggett Elementary School during the 2016-2017 school year. Our approach and dedication to ensuring our students have a wide range of experiences has led us to where we are today. We are the first and only 3 Star Quality Rated after-school program in Gwinnett County, and we are a Best of Gwinnett 2021 recipient. We have been the sole provider of summer and after-school programming at Baggett Elementary since 2016.
